Local Education

The Metcalfe County School System provides primary and secondary education to the residents of Edmonton and Metcalfe County, consisting of a newly constructed Metcalfe Elementary School for students in preschool through age five; Metcalfe County Middle School for students in grades 6 through 8; Metcalfe County High School for students in grades 9-12; and Metcalfe County Virtual School. Other educational programs include Migrant Education, Adult Education, Head Start, and Community Education.

Metcalfe County also has two private schools. Wisdom Faith Christian Academy, located in the community of Wisdom in western Metcalfe County, offers classes for students in preschool through grade nine. Savoyard Christian Academy, located in northern Metcalfe County, offers classes from preschool through grade twelve.

There are Area Technology Centers (ATC) providing secondary technical training near Edmonton: Green County ATC in Greensburg, Monroe County ATC in Tompkinsville, and Barren County ATC in Glasgow. The nearest technical colleges providing post-secondary technical training are Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College in Glasgow and Bowling Green, and Elizabethtown Technical College.

There are also a number of colleges and universities within driving distance of Metcalfe County. Western Kentucky University, located in Glasgow and Bowling Green, offers many degrees and programs through which students can obtain a higher education. Other nearby post-secondary educational institutions include Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia and Campbellsville University.
