SUMMARY:Jim C. Coleman Award Nominations
DESCRIPTION:2025 Jim C. Coleman Community Service Award\n  \nIt is that time of year when we ask for nominations for the Jim C. Coleman Award.\nThe winner will be announced and honored at the Annual Chamber Christmas Banquet scheduled for Monday\, November 24th at 6 pm. This year marks the 31st anniversary for this prestigious award. \nThe history of the Community Service Award\nShortly after revitalization in 1994\, one of the first major projects the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce established was a community service award. After some investigation it was learned that most communities bestowed some type of annual award on at least one of their deserving citizens. \nAfter much deliberation\, the chamber board of directors at that time decided to establish the Jim C. Coleman Community Service Award to honor a Metcalfe County person who closely exemplified the service orientation of the late Jim C. Coleman. \nIt is thought that Jim Coleman would have been delighted to have the late Father George K. Bowling to receive the very first award named in his memory. \nSeveral noteworthy community leaders who received this award such as Ruth Ennis\, Judge Cass Walden\, Nell Van Zant\, Dr. J. M. Hays\, Jeannie Spears\, Virginia Janes\, Royse Smith\, Wendell Stephens\, George Cowan\, Ruth Butler\, Kenneth Branstetter\, Judge Tom Emberton\, Harold & Susan Chambers\, Mary Shive\, and Lucy Forbes are no longer with us physically\, but their influence and inspiration will linger always. Others such as recipients Kathy Frick\, Charlotte Atkins\, Herb Sparks\, Judy “Jessie” Crabtree\, Freeda Reece\, Barbara Branstetter\, Kay Harbison\, Emory Kidd\, Lisa Boswell\, Martha Bragg\, Colonel William “Bill” W. Lytle\, Jr.\, Retired\, Ken Childers\, Kim Shirley Smith\, Clay & Janice Turner\, and Bill & Chris Lagermann continue to leave an indelible mark on this community. Their volunteerism and service are examples for younger Metcalfe County Residents to emulate. \nThis year marks the 31st consecutive year the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce has sought nominations from the public for this prestigious award. The Chamber Coleman Award Selection Committee will choose the Annual Jim C. Coleman Community Service Award Winner. \nYou do not have to be a member of the Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce to nominate a person for this award. The nomination form may be taken from our website\, www.metcalfechamber.com\, email\, metchamb@scrtc.com\, the chamber Facebook page\, from the Edmonton Herald Newspaper\, or stop by the chamber office to pick up an application. SUMMARY:Emberton Statue Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:October 6\, 2025 \nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: \nThe Edmonton-Metcalfe County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the unveiling of the Judge Tom Emberton statue\, on November 2\, 2025\, at 1:30 CST\, honoring an individual who was a noted leader and statesman serving his country\, the commonwealth\, and community his entire adult life. \nThe Emberton statue\, created by internationally recognized sculptor and an eighth-generation Kentuckian\, Amanda Matthews\, is a life-size bronze sculpture capturing Judge Emberton in his judicial robes while holding the Constitution of the United States. \nChief Justice (Ret) Laurance VanMeter once said\, “I consider Tom Emberton a great\, great man. I have had a number of wonderful mentors in my career who taught me how to be a lawyer and how to be a judge\, but I feel like I learned something more from Tom Emberton: how to carry oneself with honor\, grace\, and dignity…he exemplified the qualities to which all public officials should aspire.” \nThis monument honors a man who continued to touch Metcalfe County and its citizens for over fifty years. The unveiling ceremony will take place at the Tom Emberton Metcalfe County Courthouse in Edmonton\, Kentucky and is open to the public. \n  \n
