roadEdmonton is served by U.S. Highway 68 and Kentucky Routes 80 and 163, all AAA-rated trucking highways. An interchange of the Cumberland Parkway, a multi-lane toll road, is located two miles west of the city. Interstate 65 is accessible 29 miles via the Cumberland Parkway. Kentucky routes 496 and 533 also serve the Edmonton area. Twelve trucking companies provide interstate and/or intrastate service to Edmonton. CSX Transportation provides the nearest rail service, near Glasgow, 16 miles west of Edmonton. The nearest scheduled commercial airline service is available at Louisville International Airport, Nashville International Airport and Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport, all within 120 miles of Edmonton. Moore Field, near Glasgow, maintains a 4,586 foot paved runway.

Power and Fuel

The Tri-County Electric Membership corporation, whose source of power is Tennessee Valley Authority, provides electricity to Edmonton and south-central Metcalfe County. The major portion of the county receives electricity from Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation. Natural gas service is provided by the Edmonton Natural Gas System.
